City, quarter: Kamgere Rusinga Island
State: Kenya
Father: John Orato Okongo, birth 1946, -
Description of the situation: Samwel is the last born in the family of two children, the first born boy Washington (ID 52184) is already in orphanage at Island of Hope, he was born in 2000. The mother who was very active and was selling fish to feed the family died leaving her children with their father who is very old and sickling to feed and provide the family with basic needs in life. The father can do nothing for his income and he entirely depends on well-wishers for his daily food. The family live in mud house which belongs to the family. They use firewood for cooking, one small solar panel for lighting and getting water from lake. Samwel is doing well health wise at present. Because of the very poor conditions and no possibility of the old father to take care of him, Samwel was placed in our orphanage at Island of Hope. He needs to by supported by 1.400 CZK per month (16.800 CZK per year) or 55 Eur per month (660 Eur per year).
