Back
Child number: 52711
Girl, 15 years
Adopted
Agnes Akinyi Owour has been in adoption programme since year 2019 and she goes to school Our Lady of Mercy Girls Secondary school.
City, quarter: Nairobi Shauri Moyo
State: Kenya
Mother: Elisha Owour Apollo, birth 1983, casual driver
Description of the situation: Agnes lives with her mother, younger brother Daniel (2012) and their relatives. Their situation worsened in July 2018 when a fire broke out leaving the family homeless. The mother was only able to save her kids. They now rely on donations from friends and well-wishers. Family income is only around 1.500 KES/ 15 EUR per month. Family live in one permanent room that is rented. They use stove for cooking, electricity for lighting and they buy water from water vendors. Agnes is healthy. Due to the little income that family is earning, it is hard to meet basic family needs and paying school fees for two children has become a big problem. That is why we decided to put her into our programme that she could get the opportunity to go regularly to the school.

The project of remote support „Adoptions of African children“ mediates an access to education for poor Kenyan children without pulling them out of their natural environment and community. This project has been running since 2002 and has helped more than 3500 children. School fees at primary school are CZK 7200 (€300) / year, and at secondary school, college and orphanage are CZK 16800 (€660). The payment can also be broken down into multiple instalments.
