Back
Child number: 52719
Boy, 15 years
Adopted
Rholex Otieno Ochieng has been in adoption programme since year 2020 and he goes to school Gweno Kipodi Junior Secondary.
City, quarter: Kisumu Kakolo
State: Kenya
Mother: Lucy Akinyi, birth 1993, housewife
Father: George Ochieng, birth 1981, peasant farmer
Description of the situation: Rholex is from the family of four children. He has sisters Velma, Belina and brother Brian. His mother is housewife and father is peasant farmer. Family income is only around 3.000 KES/ 30 EUR per month. They live in a two – room mud house which belongs to them. They use firewood for cooking and they get water from borehole. Rholex is healthy and he is doing well. He likes helping his mother to collect firewood and he loves playing with his friends. Due to the little income, it is hard to meet all basic family needs and paying school fees for all kids is a really big problem. That is why we decided to put him into our programme that he could get the opportunity to go regularly to the school. Thanks to that, he goes to primary school.

The project of remote support „Adoptions of African children“ mediates an access to education for poor Kenyan children without pulling them out of their natural environment and community. This project has been running since 2002 and has helped more than 3500 children. School fees at primary school are CZK 7200 (€300) / year, and at secondary school, college and orphanage are CZK 16800 (€660). The payment can also be broken down into multiple instalments.
