Description of the situation: Martin is the last born in the family of four children (siblings Violet born 1995, Evans born 1998 and Richard born 1996). Both the parents died and after the death of the parents their uncle Charles took them into his house. He is a peasant famer who also has his two children to feed and also to pay school fees. The month income he gets is very little to provide for the family (5,000 Kes – about 50 Eur). They live in a one roomed mud and grass thatched house that belongs to them. They get water from the river, uses firewood for cooking and kerosene lamp for lighting. The family is doing well health wise except Charles wife is the one who is asthmatic. Martin is doing well except sometimes he has cough. In 2019, he will be in second class in nursery school. He likes playing football, he also like outdoor games and reading. He will join an orphanage in our community centre Island of Hope since January 2019. Adoption of this child costs 16,800 CZK/660 EUR per year (the amount covers school fees, accommodation, food and governess in an orphanage as well).

The project of remote support „Adoptions of African children“ mediates an access to education for poor Kenyan children without pulling them out of their natural environment and community. This project has been running since 2002 and has helped more than 3500 children. School fees at primary school are CZK 7200 (€300) / year, and at secondary school, college and orphanage are CZK 16800 (€660). The payment can also be broken down into multiple instalments.
