Description of the situation: Maida comes from a polygamous family where her mother is the second wife of the father, in their house she is the second born. Nashon (2000), the eldest in the house is doing first year in university and the last born Lucy (2004) is in class 6. The father is a peasant farmer while the mother is a house wife. Small income, which is 3.200 KES /32 EUR per month, cannot provide the family with the basic needs in life. The family lives in three rooms in the mud house which belongs them. They take water from the lake and use firewood for cooking. They use kerosene lamp for lighting. Maida likes playing football and netball. She likes English and History . Maida would like to be an accountant after her education. She is doing healthwise at the present. In 2019, she should be in form 2 at Island of Hope Humanist mixed boarding school. The adoption is for 16,800 CZK/660 Eur per year as the high school expenses are higher comparing with primary school.

The project of remote support „Adoptions of African children“ mediates an access to education for poor Kenyan children without pulling them out of their natural environment and community. This project has been running since 2002 and has helped more than 3500 children. School fees at primary school are CZK 7200 (€300) / year, and at secondary school, college and orphanage are CZK 16800 (€660). The payment can also be broken down into multiple instalments.
