Description of the situation: Valentine is the third born in the family of four children (siblings Boaz, born 2004, Mark, 2006 and Patrick, 2010), both the parents died leaving them with nobody to take care of them. After the death of the parents, the kids were divided amongst their relatives. Valentine and Patrick were taken by their uncle who also has his own children to feed and also pay school fees to them. The uncle is doing fishing but the income he gets is to little. Family´s average is 1,500 KES per month – about 15 EUR. The 8 members of the family live in a their own three roomed mud house, get their water from the lake and use little solar panel or kerosene lamp for lighting and firewood for cooking. Valentine is doing well except of the occasional malaria. In 2020, Valentine will be in 3rd class in primary school. Valentine likes Mathematics and C.R.E. She also likes ball games like netball. She will join the orphanage in our community centre Island of Hope since January 2020. Adoption of this child costs 16.800 CZK/ 660 EUR per year (the amount covers school fees, accommodation, food and governess in an orphanage as well).

The project of remote support „Adoptions of African children“ mediates an access to education for poor Kenyan children without pulling them out of their natural environment and community. This project has been running since 2002 and has helped more than 3500 children. School fees at primary school are CZK 7200 (€300) / year, and at secondary school, college and orphanage are CZK 16800 (€660). The payment can also be broken down into multiple instalments.
