City, quarter: Luanda Kachola Ataye
State: Kenya
Mother: Mary Adoyo odhiambo, birth 1975, sells brooms
Description of the situation: Mishael is the fourth born in the family of six children (siblings Dolian 2001, Peny 2003, Ashely 2015, Brenda 2016 and Tamara 2017). The father who was the only breadwinner died leaving the mother who only sells brooms to feed and also pay school fees to the children. The income she gets is very little that is not enough to do all these requirements and that is why we have thought it wise to put her on programme. Family´s average is 800 KES per month – about 8 EUR. The 7 members of the family live in a their own three roomed mud house, get their water from the river, use kerosene lamp for lighting and firewood for cooking. Mishael is doing well except of the occasional malaria, the family is also doing well health wise except their first born Dolian who is Asthmatic. In 2020, Mishael will be in 4th class in primary school. Mishael likes Mathematics, English and Kiswahili. She would like to a nurse. She also likes ball games like netball or football. She will join the orphanage in our community centre Island of Hope since January 2020. Adoption of this child costs 16.800 CZK/ 660 EUR per year (the amount covers school fees, accommodation, food and governess in an orphanage as well).
