Back
Child number: 52881
Girl, 8 years
Adopted
Child from Island of Hope
Maite Peroni has been in adoption programme since year 2020 and she goes to school Island of Hope Humanist School.
City, quarter: Migori Stella Got Kodero
State: Kenya
Mother: Anne Atieno, birth 1977, Hotel attendant
Description of the situation: Maite lives with her mother and siblings (James 23 y.o., Caroline, 19, Lucy, 17 and Marry, 14 years old). The father who was the only family breadwinner died leaving the mother who works in hotel or does fishing to feed and also take the children to school. However much she is trying, she still cannot manage because the income she gets is very little to feed, take children to school and also provide other basic needs in life to the family. Family´s average is 5000 KES per month – about 50 EUR. The family (which has 7 members altogether) lives in rental 1-roomed semi-permanent house in a fishing beach. They get water from the lake, uses firewood or charcoal for cooking and kerosene lamp for lighting or get energy from little solar panel. Maite is doing health wise well. In 2020 Maite should start to attend kindergarten, she likes playing football and cooking. Due to the little income that is family earning, it is hard to meet basic family needs and paying school fees has become a big problem. That is why we decided to put the girl into our program. Maite needs support of 2,400 CZK/100 EUR per term.
