Description of the situation: Fidel is the last born in the family of two children at present (brother Mitchel 10 years old), Fidel is 5 years old. The father who is the only family breadwinner does fishing on other people’s nets while the mother is a housewife. The income the father gets is little to feed and also provide other basic needs in life to the family, it is about 2600 ksh per month – about 26 EUR). Fidel and his parents live in one roomed rental mud house in a fishing village. They cook on firewood, use water from the lake and for lighting they use kerosene lamp or solar energy. Fidel is doing well except for the occasional malaria. He likes playing football and swimming and in school he is looking forward to counting and environmental studies. In 2021 he is attending first class in Island of Hope Humanist School. Adoption of this child costs 7.200 CZK/ 300 EUR per year.

The project of remote support „Adoptions of African children“ mediates an access to education for poor Kenyan children without pulling them out of their natural environment and community. This project has been running since 2002 and has helped more than 3500 children. School fees at primary school are CZK 7200 (€300) / year, and at secondary school, college and orphanage are CZK 16800 (€660). The payment can also be broken down into multiple instalments.
