City, quarter: Kaswanga Gunda
State: Kenya
Mother: Mildred Atieno Omondi, birth 1996, housewife
Father: Erick Omondi Rimba, birth 1989, welding and fabrication
Description of the situation: Gian Charles was born in 2016 as the second born in a family of two children. He has a brother Griffins who was born in 2015. Their father is a welder at the locality working as a hands-man of the shop owner. The mother is a housewife that fully depends on her husband. The earnings of the father fluctuate depending on the work situation, it is about 4.500 KSH (45 EUR) a month. The family also lives with Gian’s uncle who is 8 years old and they are taking care of him. In total there are 5 members living in a two room mud house, which is theirs. They use electricity for lighting, get water from the lake and use firewood/ charcoal for cooking. Gian is doing well healthwise, he really enjoys playing football with his friends and he loves to read and write as well. In 2021 he started to attend kindergarten. Due to the little income that the family earns, it is hard to meet basic needs and paying school fees has become difficult. That is why we decided to put Gian into our program so that he could go to kindergarten. He needs support of 2.400 CZK/ 100 EUR per school term.

The project of remote support „Adoptions of African children“ mediates an access to education for poor Kenyan children without pulling them out of their natural environment and community. This project has been running since 2002 and has helped more than 3500 children. School fees at primary school are CZK 7200 (€300) / year, and at secondary school, college and orphanage are CZK 16800 (€660). The payment can also be broken down into multiple instalments.

You can also provide the adoptive children by health insurance, that covers any medical treatment the child needs during 1 year.
