Her mother died in 2014 leaving her with the father who later on became mentally disturbed and became unable to take care of Nancy Because of this, Nancy was taken by her grandmother who has her own children and only does fishing to feed the family. The family lives in a three roomed mud house, they use kerosene for lighting, get water from the lake and use firewood for cooking. Nancy is healthy except for occasional malaria. She helps to wash dishes, fetch water and fetch firewood when home. She really likes athletics and in school she prefers English and Mathematics. She would like to be a nurse after her studies. In 2021 she will start to attend class 5 and she will join the orphanage in our community centre Island of Hope. Adoption of Nancy costs 5.600 CZK/ 220 EUR per school term (the amount covers school fees, accommodation, food and governess in an orphanage as well).
