Adoption - Harnest Odhiambo

Back
Child number: 52971
Boy, 9 years
Adopted
Child from Island of Hope
Harnest Odhiambo has been in adoption programme since year 2021 and he goes to school Island of Hope Humanist School.
City, quarter: Rusinga East Wakondo
State: Kenya
Guardian: Wakiaga Mturi, birth 1949, farmer
Description of the situation: Harnest was born in 2015 and he has a sister Melvin (ID 52972) who was born in 2016. Both their parents unfortunately died and left children without no one to take care of them and because of this the children were divided amongst their relatives. Harnest stayed with his grandfather who is a peasant farmer but unfortunately it is very difficult to take care of him as net family income is about 500 Ksh (5 EUR) a month. Therefore Harnest in summer 2021 joins the orphanage in our community centre Island of Hope and he will attend kindergarten. The family (in total 10 members) lives in a two roomed mud house, they use kerosene or solar for lighting, get water from the lake and use firewood for cooking. Harnest is healthy, he likes playing football and doing athletics. Adoption of Harnest costs 5.600 CZK/ 220 EUR per school term (the amount covers school fees, accommodation, food and governess in an orphanage as well).

The project of remote support „Adoptions of African children“ mediates an access to education for poor Kenyan children without pulling them out of their natural environment and community. This project has been running since 2002 and has helped more than 3500 children. School fees at primary school are CZK 7200 (€300) / year, and at secondary school, college and orphanage are CZK 16800 (€660). The payment can also be broken down into multiple instalments.

Section of detailed information provides an overview of how this projects works. In case you have already chosen a child from our database, you can also find here all the steps to be taken in order to adopt a child remotely.

You can also provide the adoptive children by health insurance, that covers any medical treatment the child needs during 1 year.

Adoption Friend Club forms an integral part of this project, and enables to support education of Kenyan children by one-time contribution anytime during the year.
