Back
Child number: 52981
Boy, 6 years
Adopted
Child from Island of Hope
David Odhiambo Ochieng has been in adoption programme since year 2021 and he goes to school Island of Hope Humanist School.
City, quarter: Kamasengre west Nyangrea
State: Kenya
Mother: Caroline Awuor Ochieng, housewife
Father: Japhan Ochieng Otieno, birth 1988, fisherman
Description of the situation: David was born in 2018 as the third born in the family of four children, he has siblings Susan (born 2006), Stacy (born 2015) and Trevor (born 2021). His father is a fisherman while the mother is a housewife, taking care of children. The income the father gets is little to provide the basic needs in life to the family, net monthly income is 3.200 Ksh (32 EUR). The family lives in a three roomed mud house, which is theirs. They use solar electricity for lighting, get water from the lake and use firewood/ charcoal for cooking. David is healthy and he really loves to play football. Due to the little income that the family earns it is hard to meet basic needs and also to pay school fees. That is why we decided to put the boy into our program so that he can go to school. In 2021 he is attending kindergarten. His adoption costs 2.400 CZK/ 100 EUR per school term.

The project of remote support „Adoptions of African children“ mediates an access to education for poor Kenyan children without pulling them out of their natural environment and community. This project has been running since 2002 and has helped more than 3500 children. School fees at primary school are CZK 7200 (€300) / year, and at secondary school, college and orphanage are CZK 16800 (€660). The payment can also be broken down into multiple instalments.

Section of detailed information provides an overview of how this projects works. In case you have already chosen a child from our database, you can also find here all the steps to be taken in order to adopt a child remotely.

You can also provide the adoptive children by health insurance, that covers any medical treatment the child needs during 1 year.
