Back
Child number: 53062
Boy, 7 years
Adopted
Child from Island of Hope
Charles Odhiambo Otieno has been in adoption programme since year 2022 and he goes to school Island of Hope Humanist School.
City, quarter: Rusinga West Wanyama
State: Kenya
Father: Kennedy Otieno Kinaga, birth 1987, boda boda driver
Description of the situation: Charles was born in March of 2017 and has an older brother Eddy (2013). Their biological mother passed, so both children currently live with their father and stepmother. Their father is a boda boda operator while their stepmother is a housewife. This family of four lives in a mud house that has three rooms. The family’s net income is 1,000 KSH (10 EUR). For cooking the family uses firewood and charcoal and receives their water from the lake nearby. While for lighting they use kerosene lamps. Some of Charles’s hobbies include playing football and soccer. From May 2022 he is ready to stay in the orphanage and start Nursery class at Island of Hope Humanist school. Expenses in the orphanage are unfortunately higher than only schooling and therefore his adoption costs 5.600 CZK/ 220 EUR per school term (16.800 CZK/ 660 EUR per year). Will you help Charles get a new home and a proper education?

The project of remote support „Adoptions of African children“ mediates an access to education for poor Kenyan children without pulling them out of their natural environment and community. This project has been running since 2002 and has helped more than 3500 children. School fees at primary school are CZK 7200 (€300) / year, and at secondary school, college and orphanage are CZK 16800 (€660). The payment can also be broken down into multiple instalments.

Section of detailed information provides an overview of how this projects works. In case you have already chosen a child from our database, you can also find here all the steps to be taken in order to adopt a child remotely.

You can also provide the adoptive children by health insurance, that covers any medical treatment the child needs during 1 year.
