Adoption - Lenox Ochieng Otieno

Back
Child number: 53203
Boy, 5 years
Not adopted
Child from Island of Hope
City, quarter: Kamasengre west gumba
State: Kenya
Mother: Maurine Awuor Otieno, birth 1983, fish monger
Description of the situation: Lenox is the last born in the family of three children at the moment. His sibling are Idda Akinyi (born 2009) and James Odhiambo (2013). Father who was the family breadwinner died leaving the mother who sells fish to feed, pay fees and also provide for other basic needs in life to the children. She also takes care about Lenox's cousin. The income the mother gets is very little and this is why Lenox has not been able to go to school yet because the mother cannot provide for the school requirements. They live in a three-room mud house which belongs to family. They use firewood for cooking, kerosene/solar for lighting and get water from a lake. Lenox likes playing football. In January 2025 he should join a kindergarten at Island of Hope Humanist School. He needs a support with an amount of 7200 CZK/300 EUR per year (600 CZK/25 EUR per month).

The project of remote support „Adoptions of African children“ mediates an access to education for poor Kenyan children without pulling them out of their natural environment and community. This project has been running since 2002 and has helped more than 3500 children. School fees at primary school are CZK 7200 (€300) / year, and at secondary school, college and orphanage are CZK 16800 (€660). The payment can also be broken down into multiple instalments.

Section of detailed information provides an overview of how this projects works. In case you have already chosen a child from our database, you can also find here all the steps to be taken in order to adopt a child remotely.

You can also provide the adoptive children by health insurance, that covers any medical treatment the child needs during 1 year.
