Description of the situation: Melvine is the last born in the family of two children. Her brother is Collins (born 2012). Father who was the only family breadwinner died leaving the mother to provide for the family. The mother is now mentally challenged leaving the children with their old grandmother to care for the children. The grandmother could not manage and this is why Melvine was taken by her aunt who also have her own children and only sells cereals to feed the family. The income the aunt is getting is meagre to support the family. They live in a two roomed mud house which belongs to the family. They use firewood/charcoal for cooking, kerosene/solar for lighting and they get water from lake. Melvine likes molding and singing and playing netball. In school she likes English and Creative Arte. She would like to be a teacher after school. Due to bad family situation she was admited to orphanage in Community center Island of Hope and in 2026 she should start attending class 2 at Island of Hope Humanist School. Shee needs support of 1500 CZK/62,50 EUR/ month (18.000 CZK/750 EUR/year).

The project of remote support „Adoptions of African children“ mediates an access to education for poor Kenyan children without pulling them out of their natural environment and community. This project has been running since 2002 and has helped more than 3 500 children. School fees at primary school are CZK 8,400 (€ 360) / year, and at secondary school, college and orphanage are CZK 18,000 (€ 750). The payment can also be broken down into multiple instalments.
