Dear friends, we cordially invite you to an online charity auction for the Island of Hope, with which we would like to conclude this year's celebrations of the 30th anniversary of our organization’s founding and the 25 years of our journeys to Kenya and the start of our development projects.
The auction will feature a collection of artworks and artifacts from Africa, inspired by Africa or by the travels of artists. Behind each piece lies an interesting story – of the artwork itself, the artist, or the organization that donated it. The result is a truly original and diverse collection. All stories are available here or on Facebook.
The auction catalog was published on Tuesday, December 2nd at 12:00, symbolically on Giving Tuesday, the global day of generosity and good deeds.
The online auction will take place on Sunday, December 14th at 7:30 p.m. on the Livebid platform.
From December 2nd to 14th, pre-bidding will take place on Livebid. Pre-bidding is a simple way to participate in the auction without needing to be online at the actual auction time. If participants wish to place a limit bid, they simply need to set the maximum amount they are willing to offer for an item. If their bid is not exceeded by another bidder, they win the item. If the auction price surpasses their limit and they are connected online, they have the opportunity to raise their bid and obtain the item. You must be logged in to participate in the auction.
The auction proceeds will support the education of children and the operation of the boarding high school at the community centre Island of Hope on Rusinga Island in Kenya. We have been running the project with the local community since 2003, and over 500 children visit it daily. It includes a children’s home, kindergarten, primary and boarding high school, an educational center with a library and computer room, a medical clinic, and a farm.
Join us and let’s support children’s education in Kenya together. Even a single bid can help where it is needed most… Changing one human life and bringing hope for the future – thank you.
