Abubakar is deaf, though this does not hinder him from achieving his goals.He has 5 siblings: Damla, Mohamud, Yasin and Faiza, all are attending school. They stay with their parentsin the village. Their father is a peasant farmer and earns an average of 6500 per month, they live in a mudhouse which belongs to the family, use firewood for cooking, lanten lamp for lighting and get water from the river.The parents struggle very hard to cater for the basic needs of the family.

Mervin Edwine has sister Marion (under our distance adoption programme no 4098). After the death of their parents, they live with an aunt who has two of her own children who also live in the same house. The husband to the aunt is a casual mechanic and this is how he is able to meet the needs of the family. His income is not constant and it depends on each job he does daily and he may end up coming home without a wage. Edwine has occasional chest problems especially during cold weather. They live in a single room a total of six people. They use charcoal for cooking, electricity for lighting and water from the tap for domestic use. He likes playing handballl and attends school debate club. He wants to be a Lawyer when he grows up. In 2018 he should attend the 4th class of high school.

James father died in 2002 leaving him under the care of the mother with little suport from his elder brother.he has 3 siblings all of whom dropped out of school i.e primary school and who are looking for casual jobs to support their mother.The boy has no health complication.The family live in a brick house which they own.In a 3 roomed house 2 dependants.They use firewood for cooking,kerosene lamp for lighting and unprotected well that they fetch water from. He likes helping his mother. He wants to be an auto mobile mechanic when he grows up. In 2018 he should attend the 3rd class of high school.

Peris has four siblings. Jim , Goerge , Domnic and Josphat. They own three single rooms which they live in and the walls are made of mud. Water is acccessible from the lake and firwood is used for their cooking. The parents engage in fishing as the father does the fishing and the mother helps to sell the fish. This income is not stable as sometimes the lake is closed for days and during certain days they have no income. They struggle alot to keep the children in school as each day determines how much they are able to sell.

The family is big and shares three rooms that have been semi-permanently built.The father has two wives. The family survives on small scale farming and sometimes the income is not enough for their daily needs, making it hard for them to survive. Regan likes football as a hobby, he wants to be a teacher after finishing his school. The boy is in his second year at high school, so he has two more years left to finish it (situatuion in 2017).

Sharon Aoko was born on the 8th of July1996. Her father Gideon Obat is a photographer who separeted with Sharons mother a few years ago and has since remarried Elizabeth Albayisi who is a farmer and housewife. Sharon has two sibblings: Emmanuel Onyango and Verionica Achieng. Emanuel is also sponsored in the adoption program. Sharon was born a weak girl, it is still not clear what causes her medical problems, she has been on and off the hospital without any clear results. The family of 5 dependants lives in a 3 roomed house that belongs to the family. hey use water from the natural well and use kerosine for lighting and firewood for cooking. She likes playing netball and attends school drama club. She would like to be an Actress when she grows up.. In 2018 she should attend the 3rd class of high school.

Sophy stays with both parents who get a monthly net income of ksh6000 with 8 depedents- They all stay in a 3roomed mud house which belongs to them but currently is in a bad shape. The father´s income can only cover food. They use firewood for ooking, lamp for lighting and get their water from the tap. At times the bigger kids who cannot go to school because of no school fees help their father to put food in the table. The girl is in her third year at high school, so she has one year left to finish it (situation in 2017).

Their father died in 2009, and the mother who is the only source of income does small business to meet the basic needs of the family. They live in a two room mud house, using charcoal for cooking, kerosene lamp for lighting and getting water from the tap. Dancan is anaemic.

George Ogejo Odede

Geroge has a mother who is a widow and three siblings: Caleb, Michael and Maurine .The oldest son is married and doesn’t live at home. Mother who is the sole provider is a farmer and she makes very little which is not enough to keep the children in school and make the other needs. They own two-roomed house which have been made of mud walls and has access to water from the lake. They have no electricity and uses a small tin lamp for their lighting. George likes playing football and making friends, he also likes doing mathematics and social studies in school. George is saying that he wants to be a doctor after finishing his university education.

Magdaline Benter has 5 siblings: Lucy Akinyi, Dan Omondi, Claris Anyango (no. 41566), Joseph Otieno and Antony Odhiambo. She was born on 20th January 1995. She stays with her mother in the village, since her father died in 2012. They stay in a 2-room mud house belonging to the family. They use firewood for cooking, kerosene lamp for lighting and get water from the river. Magdalena's mother works as farmer and earns 5000 per month. Magdalena has problems with her waist, she has a wound that does not seem to be healing and she can not do heavy work. She likes watching movies and attends school poerty club. She would like to be a teacher when she grows up.In 2018 she should attend the 4th class of high school.

The father is the breadwinner of the family sometimes when things are so tight the kids go without eating. His dream is to become someone who could help other families or people who need help. He likes listening to music and he wants to be mechanic when he grows up. In 2018 he should attend the 4th class of high school.

The project of remote support „Adoptions of African children - “ mediates an access to education for poor Kenyan children without pulling them out of their natural environment and community. This project has been running since 2002 and has helped more than 3500 children. The basic sponsoring fee amounts to 7200 CZK (300 EUR) a year.

You can also provide the adoptive children by health insurance, that covers any medical treatment the child needs during 1 year.

Adoption Friend Club forms an integral part of this project, and enables to support education of Kenyan children by one-time contribution anytime during the year.
