Child number: 52947

Adopted
Asell Anyango Ochieng has been in adoption programme since year 2021 and she goes to school Davysun Academy.
City, quarter: Kamasengre East Sienga
State: Kenya
Mother: Pamela Achieng Odhiambo, birth 1992, shop attendant
Guardian: Jane Ouma, birth 1968, peasant farmer
Description of the situation: Asell was born in 2017 and she has a sister Ashley (born in 2014). Asell’s father who was the only family breadwinner died leaving the mother who is a shop attendant alone to feed and pay for school fees to the children. Unfortunately, the mother could not manage to take care of the children, therefore Asell was taken by her grandmother who is a peasant farmer and also has her own children to take care of. The income she gets is very little to provide the basic needs in life to the family, net monthly income is about 3.000 Ksh (30 EUR). The family lives in a five roomed permanent house, they use kerosene or electricity for lighting, get water from the lake and also use firewood or charcoal for cooking. Asell is healthy, she really likes playing football and playing with toys. In 2021 she should start to attend kindergarten. Her adoption costs 2.400 CZK/ 100 EUR per school term.

The project of remote support „Adoptions of African children“ mediates an access to education for poor Kenyan children without pulling them out of their natural environment and community. This project has been running since 2002 and has helped more than 3500 children. School fees at primary school are CZK 7200 (€300) / year, and at secondary school, college and orphanage are CZK 16800 (€660). The payment can also be broken down into multiple instalments.
