Description of the situation:
Derick was born in April of 2018 and has a younger sibling Andy (2020). Derick’s father is a fisherman, and his mother sells fish for a living. His family lives in a mud house that has three rooms. For cooking they use firewood and charcoal and retrieve their water from the lake. For lighting they have solar power lighting and kerosene lamps. Their net income is 3,500 KSH (28 EUR). Derick struggles occasionally with malaria. His mother also occasionally gets a strong case of malaria while the father suffers from abdomen pain. Some of Derick’s hobbies and interests include football. Dedrick (thanks to adoption) went to kindergarten on the Island of Hope Rusinga and now goes to primary school here.
