Description of the situation: Katka is the first born in the family of two children, mother is a single parent. The mother is a house maid and because her earning is very little and cannot provide for the basic needs in life to the children, Katka and her sister were taken by their grandmother who is a cook in a school Island of Hope Humanist School to feed and provide for other basic needs in life to the family. Apart from Katka and the sister Rihana Noela Otieno (also in adoption 53075) ,the grandmother also takes care of other two children together with her husband who is a drunkard and violent when drunk. The income the grandmother gets is very little to feed, pay school fees and provide other basic things in life to the family. They live in a three roomed semi-permanent house, gets water from the lake and uses firewood/charcoal for cooking and also kerosene/solar for lighting. Katka likes playing football and reading Novels. Katka likes Chemistry and Geography; she would like to be a doctor after school. In 2024 she should attend Form 3 Island of Hope Humanist Mixed Boarding School. She needs a support of 5600CZK/ 220 EUR/ term (16800CZK/ 660EUR/ year).

The project of remote support „Adoptions of African children“ mediates an access to education for poor Kenyan children without pulling them out of their natural environment and community. This project has been running since 2002 and has helped more than 3500 children. School fees at primary school are CZK 7200 (€300) / year, and at secondary school, college and orphanage are CZK 16800 (€660). The payment can also be broken down into multiple instalments.
