Collection „rescue food packages“

THANK YOU to all adoptive parents and friends of the Centrum Narovinu, the distribution of food packages is successfully over. ❤️ We are glad that together with the Nairobi office and volunteers in Kenya we managed to react immediately and realize the collection. Buying food was really the most important help we could give to children and families in Kenya during the pandemic.

The first part of food distribution took place during June and July 2020. A total of 1635 children were supported. The food packages also supported 21 teachers at the partner school Ngando Preparatory School and 9 volunteer coordinators who found themselves in need and without any financial support. Total purchases: 10,900 kg of baking flour (Chapati flour), 39,240 kg of corn flour (Ugaliflour), 54,000 kg of corn (Ugali), 5,450 kg of rice, 6,650 l of cooking oil. It is a staple food for many Kenyan households. The purchases were made in 10 slums in Nairobi, Mombasa and Kisumu. Also in more than 17 smaller towns and 46 villages throughout Kenya.

The second distribution of food packages took place at the end of September and during October. A total of 1,659 children and their families were given food within the program. Each child on Rusinga Island received a 90 kg bag of corn and 2 liters of cooking oil. Children in other parts of Kenya received 6 kg of rice, 5 liters of cooking oil, 12 kg of wheat flour and 24 kg of corn flour. A total of 6,954 kg of rice, 45,000 kg of corn, 6,795 liters of cooking oil, 27,816 kg of corn flour and 13,908 kg of wheat flour were distributed in 14 slums in Nairobi, Mombasa and Kisumu and in 18 capitals throughout Kenya (Nairobi, Mombasa, Nyeri, Machakos, Kisumu, Nakuru, Naivasha, Molo, Eldoret, Busia, Siaya, Kakamega, Homabay, Kisii, Bomet, Bondo, Siaya, Vihiga).
