With the help of Center Narovinu support Rose has completed her primary, secondary and college education. Today the 22 year old young lady studies successfully at the university in Kenya.

News from the farm on Island of Hope, Rusinga Island

The coordinators of the project of Island of Hope on Rusinga Island in Kenya send their regards to all their friends in Europe. The first harvest of maize and two hundred new chickens in the farm have made them really happy! The first crop from an eight-hectare field is another step on the way to sustainability of the project which has to feed 350 children a day.

      
        

Echos from the vernissage of Africa Through Uncommon Eyes

On Tuesday, May 6, 2014, the exhibition Africa Through Uncommon Eyes opened in RIM Gallery. Thanks to the financial support from RIM-CZ and the visitors buying fair trade products, the amount of 27,000 Kč was raised during the first day for development help in Kenya.

New photographs and videos from the last trip to Kenya

Ms Dana Feminová visited Kenya again from March 21 to April 7. As usual, she was very busy organizing seminars for the coordinators of Distant Adoption of African Children and Partnership of Czech and Kenyan Schools, handing over the presents sent to the children by their adoptive parents etc. She also visited Rusinga Island and Island of Hope to discuss future of the project and next steps to its sustainability.

Big floods on Island of Hope, Rusinga Island, Kenya

Due to a wild storm striking Rusinga Island in the middle of March, lots of houses on Rusinga Island were damaged. Although the water flooded Island of Hope too, all our buildings fortunately survived. In order to protect them from getting soaked and prevent further damage of the farm, another drainage channel will have to be made as soon as possible to drain water straight to the lake.

Looking back at the fundraising event and an opportunity to online-purchase of several last beautiful works by children from around the world

The fundraising event took place in Prague in Kinsky Summerhouse in cooperation with Radio Junior Czech Radio on Thursday, November 7, 2013 from 15 to 19 hours. There was very nice atmosphere all the afternoon. Children and students tried several workshops with African topics , the adults discussed the current situation in Africa, development projects, and watched latest videos documenting the progress of our projects.

25/9 Center Narovinu took part in Czech Radio's vernisage names "Drawing online 2013"

It was already the eighth time, when children from Kenya participated on the Czech Radio's art competition  "Drawing online 2013". The topic of this year was "No fear of spooks" and there wer exibited pictures from the Czech Republic, Kenya, Slovakia, Bulgary, Ungaria, Russia, India, Indonasia and U. Short “field” news on development projects in Kenya

Africa can always surprise! And again, like many times in the past, I am back in Kenya because of our development projects. An unbelievable 13 years have passed since my first trip to Africa and I am not able to figure out how many times I have visited this country so far – 20, 25 times..? Each of the trip was unique and different to the rest. But the beginning of this trip was special in it´s own way.

      
        

Charity fair for Kenya kids and Kouřim town

On Saturday August 31, 2013 a charity fair for Kenya kids and Kourim town was organized as part of  a family festival “Kourim Rock 2013”. Goods in value of 3,180 CZK were sold, 50% of the amount – 1,590 CZK was donated to the flood account of the Kourim town and the second half will be handed over to the partner school and Community Centre Island of Hope at Rusinga Island in Kenya.

      
        

Beneficiary concert at Kutna Hora

We would like to thank everybody who came to the beautiful premise of Gallery GASK at the Jesuit college at Kutna Hora on August 18, 2013 and who participated at the beneficiary concert of the Narovinu Centre and thus supported the education of Kenyan children either by a voluntary entrance fee or by a donation to our bank account.  The total amount raised was 13,700 CZK and will be fully used for our project of Adoption of African children – project of remote support.

      
        

Run for Africa

We would like to share with you our great experience – one of the nicest for me personally during this school year – which was an event called “Run for Africa.” We organized the event in order to raise funds /school fees for our adopted boy Vincent.  In the previous years we managed to obtain funds through paper recycling, but this year one of my colleagues had an idea to raise the funds by “running”.

      
        

Week-end meeting of the Centre Narovinu volunteers

During the weekend of May 25-26 a regular meeting of volunteer coordinators took place at the premises of the Centre Narovinu. 19 people in total participated from all over the Czech Republic. The program was similar to those of the previous years – the project coordinators gave updates (summary) of various projects and informed about the news, changes and future plans.

Monday´s charitable auction earned 52 000 CZK to Community centre Island of Hope

The picture Angel by Radan Wagner, who gifted it to Centre Narovinu, was auctioned off for unbelievable 52 000 CZK. This money will be used for further development of Community Centre Island of Hope on the Rusinga Island in Kenya.

      
        

Looking back at the events which took place the first weekend in May

We presented our organisation, together with other 200 non-profit organisations, at the NGO Market in Prague on Friday, the 3rd May. We thank for all nice meetings and interest in Africa and development projects. Accompanying programme was very interesting and varied as well. We hope, that you enjoyed the trade show as much as we did.

      
        

Other courses „Volunteers for development cooperation in Africa“ took place in March

March was full of courses for volunteers – two subsequent evenings took place in Prague (18th and 19th March) and a weekend course took place in Chocerady on the 23rd and 24th March. 12 people participated in Prague evenings and 8 people in Chocerady course.

      
        

My visit to Florence

I decided to adopt a Kenyan child after X-mass 2012, thanks to the article about Petr Kostka's visit to his adopted child in Uganda. Because the school year in Kenya starts in January, things had to be speed up, which we managed together with a Czech coordinator. All papers were ready in a few days, so Florence could start school after the New Year.
